By all means don't get these messages in "digest form." I was hoping that I
would hear your contributions on this thread about three days ago...but,
nothing...

Immediacy is the key for good reactions here. And there simply is no
immediacy with "digests."

And, geese, Fred, since you are SO MUCH OLDER than I am (GGG!!!), I
figured you must be sick or something, not to respond.

Isn't it nice to be missed??? Consider yourself so...

See a little "learned crustiness" can go a long way...and be quite
constructively educational...(gosh, did I write that?)

Now back to the thread...

In all honesty, we can't really bash Leica for costing more days/weeks'
work to buy them now, than they did 30+ years ago. The same thing is true
with all photographic and other machines.

One only has to compare the prices of now to only a few years ago with
Linhof, Rollei, Nikon, Sinar, Ford, Chevy, Mercedes-Benz...and it makes one
"gulp!"

Ah, yes, the l950's and 60's with under $500 Leica m's with lenses...
Gosh, were these days, when the air was clean?...and sex was considered
dirty?...all that bad?

Just musing nostalgically through the past,
