Subject: Leica USA WARRANTY service update

As many of you may remember, I had sent an essentially new R7 damaged in a fall and my R6.2 whose metering stopped working precipitously to Leica USA six weeks ago. Finally received the goods yesterday. The cameras were repaired under passport service with no cost to myself. The damaged R7 was repaired to new condition where it was dented on the top plate interfering with the exposure compensation ring but interestingly the mildly damaged bottom plate was not restored. I don't believe Leica is responsible for cosmetic fixing and I accept the fact that it didn't come back looking as good as it did before the fall. I do think six weeks may be a bit long to wait especially if I had to make a living with these two cameras. Any experiences with other repair facilities and their wait times?
