Subject: More on the Hologon -- Beware!

The 8/15 Hologon is a 3/3 design dating from 1966 (DP 1241637); Kingslake
regards it as a development of the Roosinov design of 1946, best known for
its use by the famed Dr Ludwig Bertele in his Aviogon and Postwar Biogon
designs, though he does note that it could also be regarded as a reversed
triplet. In any event, it shares little with the Gaussian roots of the Topogon.

The current 8/16 Hologon is an assymmetrical lens of 5/3 design, apparently
descended from the 8/15 design. The older 8/15 lens covered 110 degrees,
the current one 106 degrees.

In ANY event, this is hardly a 'rather old' design.
