They just look like screws. The slits in the "screw" heads have been
made by contact between the camera and the hinged door. The slits are
not on a _brand_ new camera, or on the replacement "knobs" which I now
have received.

Its the same with my M6. But on my friends M6 the film advance lever is
much closer to the top of the camera. In fact, it is close enough to the
top to scratch it when applying normal pressure on the lever. His camera
is black, and is produced some months before mine. Unfortunately, it
looks like not all M6 cameras are created equal. But I am sure they are
all within close tolerances :-)
