Hi Ben, 
I've seen guys who were staff photographers on an un-named newspaper that were
all supplied with Hasselblads and multi lenses and they just trashed them like
they were nothing. And I've seen similar things by others with 35mm gear
supplied by the employer.

The reason you see this on occaision is due to the supplied gear at no cost to
the photographer.  Those of us who fork out the bread for our own gear treat it
much better than in some cases, those who are supplied.

Mine are worked with multi numbers of rolls going through them and under some of
the worst weather and industrial environments, but I don't beat them or throw
them around carelessly. If they get broke, I pay! If they get broke and have to
be fixed, I pay due to lost assignment revenue.

So whomever was the user of the the camera in question must not have treated it
with any care what so ever. A shame.
