After years of leaving a big, heavy (but quite good) Bogen in the closet most of the time, I bought the 1228 Mountaineer and an Arca-Swiss B-1 ball head about a year and a half ago. Expensive -- and painful to spend that much on a tripod at the time -- but one of the best photographic investmenst I've made. What a difference in weight and ease! I've taken more shots with a tripod in the last 18 months than I have the rest of my life combined. Larry
