Subject: [Leica] Vario-Elmar-R 28-70 f/3.5-4.5 tested

In the May issue of the French magazine Chasseur d'Images, the new
Vario-Elmar-R 28-70 f/3.5-4.5 is tested. This lens is apparently new as
far as its mechanical construction and handling are concerned. Its
optical formula is much of the same as the old version (a Sigma design I
believe). The new version looks very much like its sibbling, the
Vario-Elmar-R 35-70 f/4.0.
The lens performs quite well, except full-open with a considerable drop
in contrast/sharpness.
As for its price: well, it is truly Leica.
