Alan,
I have both lenses: Colorplan FF and CF and only non glass plastic mounts.

It seems not to be the temperature that makes the slides plop but rather the
humidity.

I get best results when I preheat the slides in the stove at approx. 50C. 
That is less than the typical temperature in the projector. 

A hair drier will do the same. But I don't like the idea of throwing dust at
high speed on my slides.
