Which tests do you mean? All of the published tests I've seen (Pop Photo
excepted, for obvious reasons) rate the Leica lenses highly. Have a look at
the online compilation at http://ue3.ee.nus.sg/photozone/leica.htm

Tests are only one way to evaluate a lens for personal use, of course, but
I've never heard of anyone having to make subjective apologies for the
failure of a modern Leica lens to perform well on the bench. I've heard
people explain why they like a particular lens from the past due to a
quality that isn't present in the modern equivalent, but that's very
different.
