Spencer,

In the late 1960's the US Navy used SL's, equipped with what alter became
known as the 180 f3.4 APO-Telyt and 2x converter to photograph movements of
Soviet Navy ships in and out of the Black Sea.  I don't know how many wer
actually engraved as navy property, but black paint SL's to command a slight
premium for the collector.
