Pascal!
I also use the LS2000. First with NikonScan 2.0 and 2.1 now with
Silverfast.I scanned negs and slides for the web an for printing with Epson
Photo and Tektronix Phaser 560.
My experience is, that it is much easier to get good results with negatives
than with slides. The result from negs looks fine with a nearly linear
gradation curve and very few colorcast correction.
With slides it is difficult to reduce the huge density range to the
printers or monitors small range. So you often need gradation curves with a
hyperbolic shape.
I'm a newbie on scanning and this is my private experience I made during
the last few month. It is much more difficult and it takes me much more
time to get good results with slides.
I made my experience with Fuji Provia and Sensia on Slides. For negs I used
KodakGPX and GPY and especially PJM which IMHO is the best film for digital
imaging. You can use it from 100 to 1000 ASA without pushing. It is sharp
enough for scanning with a slide scanner. Its color saturation is fine and
it records everything without getting to less or to much density.
