I asked the same question (I asked for a new 21mm and 24mm lens) at the
LUG-Leica-Photokina meeting. Everyone from Leica smiled with the look "they
will be along in due time" but also said "remember that the wide angle
lenses for the R camera must be a retrofocus design, which is much more
difficult to design and manufacture."
