What Jim says seems reasonable enough: those who have something to say
may say it, and those who don't want to read it may delete it, whether
it be on-topic or off. Toward that end, accurate subject lines help.

As I've learned over the past couple of LUG years, you can talk about
WOOKIES, LOOKIES, & NOOKIES for only so long. The new LUG blood, as I was,
will complain about the non-technical discussions, as I did. However, as
time on the LUG passes, one discovers that the intelligence level of this
list, is an order of magnitude higher than most other lists. I belong to
BMW, Digital Photography, and Stock Photo lists. There is no comparison.

I cannot analyze this, but it seems like those who choose Leica, are also
inclined to articulate whole life philosophies as well as f/stops, world
cultures as well as RF alignment, corporate business philosophies as well
as APO Elmarits.

These discussions not only have the possibility of leading to some unique
solutions, but give each of us a momentary slice of cultures, thoughts, and
philosophies of others, in other parts of the world, in real time. Until
the Internet, this only became evident during physical travel. Books and
documentaries always have a mission, so are rarely true to their proposed
vision.

For those of you concerned about "off subject" topics, please remember...
all topics are cyclic in nature. No one topic will dominate for an
inordinate amount of time. The fact that a craft culture (Leica culture) is
juxtapositioned with human culture (geographical, religious, political,
etc...) on this list, makes for very interesting dialog. Please, let us
revere what we have here. It is unique.

The only thing I would like to see, is for everyone to remember to change
the subject line to reflect the topic of the post. Many of you do this. But
many don't. The subject line "JB, filters, flames, and technique" oversaw
at least six entirely different subject threads, including a complete Nikon
thread. This subject line appeared again last night. When the volume of LUG
posts gets too heavy, I have to, unfortunately, make use of the DEL key. I
have to rely on the subject line. I know many others do the same. If you
want your post read (why else would you post it?) then make sure the
subject line is accurate.
