For my own photography, AF is only of interest due to fact that my eyes
aren't as good as they were, and AF SLR focussing have been getting worse.

What really excites me is Canon's Image Stabilization technology. It was
fantastic when it first came out on video cameras, and on still cameras it
is just as good. As I use a lot of shift lenses and have Canon's 24TS-E, I
also got a 28-135 IS lens. It may be only f/3.5-5.6, but for much of my
photography it pretends it's a f/1.4-2.4 or so. Optical quality is decent;
my 35/1.4 is safe, but the IS technology allows me to shoot with a wide
ranging, fairly light zoom in approximately similar conditions.
