As most here know, the LUG's vacationing/job-hunting Eric Welch currently
works at the St. Joseph, Missouri newspaper. The following article is
quoted from Saturday's Kansas City Star (Kansas City is a couple hour drive
south of St. Joseph):

"Journalists joke about having a story so big they can yell, 'Stop the
presses!'

"But there was no joke - and no choice - about 1 a.m. Friday at the St.
Joseph News-Press when a blown electrical transformer stopped the presses.
Only about half of the day's copies had been printed, leaving the staff
scrambling to get the paper out.

"When it became clear the power wasn't coming back soon - it ended up being
out for eight hours - St. Joseph staff members brought printing negatives
to The Kansas City Star, which has a cooperative agreement with the
News-Press for just such emergencies.

"The rest of the papers were printed by 8:30 a.m. on The Star's presses,
rushed back to St. Joseph and delivered by reporters, ad salesmen and just
about anyone else on the staff who could help."

Hmmm...Eric leaves town and the whole newspaper breaks down! :-) Sounds
like had he been there, he'd have spent his Saturday morning delivering
papers.
