Well, M3's, M2's, M1's, and M4's, were all subjected to "final adjustment"
with wooden hammers, as Hasselblads were and still are.  Look at the
pictures of the old Wetzlar plant and, at every desk, there is a small
wooden hammer.  These guys worked by feel more than measurement
("tolerances are for those who can't get it right", though I cannot recall
who said it), and worked in microns, not millimeters.
