I believe that the warning icons that you got in the viewfinder of your R7
mean that you have manually set the ASA dial to another speed than DX or you
have loaded a film cartridge that the DX reader cannot read.  The +/- icon
flashes either when the exposure compensation is engaged or the ASA setting
is manually set to a speed other than the DX reading.

Check the ASA setting and change it to DX if it is set on another speed and
see if that cures the problem.
