I agree. I think Pop Photos test are very good. They rate the Leica lenses
as being excellent and better than others. So I find it hard to find fact
with the statement Leica never wins at Pop Photo. I have several Leica M
and R lens tests on file from older Pop Photo mags that indicate they are
incredible.

Of course it's going to win. Leica never wins at Pop Photo. Their tests are
flawed.

Not necessarily true. Erwin has posted that even he finds Pop Photo's tests
as being sound. It just depends on whether you find the parameters on which
they base their evaluation to be relevant to your usage of a lens (I, for
one, do).

Specifically, on October 19, 1996, Erwin posted the following (excerpted
from a longer post on lens tests) to the LUG:

The POP Photo methodology is optically sound. They analyse a lens on five
or six parameters they deem important and then use a weighted average to
arrive at the SQF values. It is the selection of parameters and this
weighting that undervalues the Leica lenses in most cases. What they
measure and the way they measure it are in itself correct.
