Hi,
I am French, also living in Alsace. I confirm that new Leicas are expensive
in France and in Germany. There is no difference even in duty free shop in
Frankfurt.
I bought my second hand  M6 body in Paris "Maison du Leica" for 9600 Francs.
1700 dollars is the average price for a second hand M6 in France and in
Germany. A f:2 35mm Summicron costs 5000 F.
