I think that the difference between bidding $30 for a $20 book and blowing
$30 at the crap table is that after the enthusiasm of the moment dies down
and you realize your mistake, at least on eBay you get to keep book :-)

I was going to tell a story about the time I got a $1500 densitometer for
$100 but this sounds awfully like the story's I've all too often heard about
people taking only $100 to the casino and returning with a few thousand ...
and my wife still asks "But what do you do with that thing anyway?"
