Frank,

I live in Barcelona and can answer your questions.

You can use tripods wherever you want excepting inside public
places where flash photography is not allowed. You can take
photographs outside and inside the Barcelona cathedral and other
big gothic churches like "Santa Maria del Mar".

You maybe will need something wider than 28mm for some places
and you can try the film you like. You have to think that Madrid is a
cool site in march and that Barcelona has a warmer climate, but
you are not going to get very shinny days. I'd recoomend you to get
800 Fuji print film for inside buildings. It's the film I used recently
with my M2 in churches at Firenze with great results.

Barcelona is plenty of nice places to take photographs. A short list:

1.- Las Ramblas
2.- Santa maria del Mar church
3.- Olympic village
4.- Paseo de Gracia (plent of modernist buildings)
5.- Sagrada Familia (Gaudi)
6.- Montjuich
7.- Gothic village.
...etc

For more details contact me if you like.

Best regards,
