George - I've got exactly the same thing that I've been using for years. I replaced the fluorescent fixtures with daylight bulbs - 5000K - and got a ground glass cut to fit the top. Then I used adhesive foam (window stripping?) to lay out six rows on the top half of the glass - each row holds exactly 18 slides tilted slightly by resting on the foam for the row before. That leaves half of the glass for viewing whole pages of slides or larger formats. It's better and larger than any light table I could afford. I bought the daylight bulbs from a local light bulb supply shop and the ground glass from a Pittsburgh Plate Glass shop here. The weather stripping came from Home Depot. It's all much cheaper than a photographic light box but works the same. Tina Tina Manley, ASMP http://www.tinamanley.com
