Well, yes, actually I used to use a little piece of black gaffer's tape
to hold that little door on the right-hand side of my EOS-1 shut more
securely -- it was easy enough to peel an end up whenever I needed to
get to the battery check or Custom Function dealies or whatever, and
I didn't have to be annoyed when the damned thing flapped open when
my right hand got a little sweaty and created some sort of suction or
sticktion.  Yes, it seemed a little silly; no, I didn't think it'd do
any good to whine to or about Canon; yes, I continued to respect the
camera as a remarkably effective picture-taking machine.  In fact, I
still respect the EOS-1 series; I just prefer not to live with 'em
day-to-day, when I can use these weird old-fashioned German things
instead.
