Subject: [Leica] M6 50mm frame line verses M2,M4,M4-2 50mm frame line

I was just sitting here fiddling with and M4 and M6, and I noticed, much to my
surprise, the 50mm frame line in the M6 is smaller than the M4. I thought to
myself, self, how odd, so I got out an M2 and M4-2. The M2, M4, M4-2 50mm
frame lines all seemed to include the same within the frame but the M6
included noticeably less within the frame line. I double checked by putting
the cameras on a tripod and setting markers ten feet from the camera ( two
light stands) to mark the edges of the 50mm frame line for the M4. Replacing
the M4 with the M6 the frame lines were, as I said noticeable narrower, though
I did not measure how much. It looked like about three inches or so.

The only reason I can think of for this oddity is that Leica resized the frame
to be accurate at the closest focusing distance when the 50mm Summicron
decided it could focus to 28" instead of 40".

Has any one besides myself noticed this or am I going off the deep end
