(info given many years ago by a french Leica agent). In 1981, when the R4 was marketed,the same agent said that there was room in the base of the camera for the correfot. I don't know if it's true. But in the Osterloh's book on the R4, p.57 (german edition) there is a section of the camera with a strange thing below the reflex mirror, just above the tripod bush. In 1982, Leica foto published a paper on the Correfot. They wrote that the device needed improvement...IMHO they recognized that their device (which was electro-mechanical) was superseded by japanese devices (which were all-electronic) After the Leica R-D department caught forty winks till to-day.Very short sleep indeed because Leica time is not usual time...;-) Dominique
