If you survive, and I'm not saying you will, someone will surely steal your
Leica.  On the other hand, using the same common sense you would use in any
other city will provide adequate prophylaxis.  Don't cross the Mayor,
though.

I will making my first trip to the U.S. since the spring of 97 in a couple
of weeks, and my first trip to New York since I left New Jersey for Belgium
in 95. Naturally, I want to bring a subset of my Leica stuff and prowl
Manhattan with my M6 (given the high current value of the dollar, shopping
is not interesting, although I may pay a visit to Tamarkin). Are NYC streets
really that much safer now than they used to be, say, 10 years ago? Will I
be able to take "human traffic" types of pictures without losing my M6 or
worse?
