I noticed the same thing on mine. But what really made me laugh was the
use of the word "seit" in "seit 1756." Seit translates more strictly
than the English "since" and clearly implies something existing up to
the present time with continuity and without interruption - not exactly
a good description of the firm's sad history.

While we are on the topic of German, Der Gruene Punkt (the green dot)
means that the packaging is recycled. It's equivilent to the little
triangular circling arrows logo you often see on US recycled products. I
suppose it could also imply that the materials in the lens are recycled,
in which case I am truly amazed at the quality Cosina has achieved!
