Alan, 
Wonderful comparison.  And as someone who owns and treasures a WWII
brass Naval sextant, heavy and smooth and so much easier to get accurate
sights with than even the best plastic sextants (of which I own two).

(who won't admit, no sir, even under threat of keelhauling that using a
GPS is much easier, especially with a queasy stomach.)
