Gentlemen and Ladies,
    Come on PLEASE......
The only way you can make valid comparisons about lens signatures, is by
lookling at actual photographic PRINTS! Not, from a book or computer screen.
There are too many variables.
In book publishing, granted, the orginal prints must be excellent. But,
anyone who knows anything about commerical printing (ink & paper, not
photographic), knows a good printing house can make or break you.
Plus over the years, HCB has used many different 50mm lenses. You can'y
just say "it's because he used a 50mm f/1.5 Sonnar."
Most likely, the photo were recently printed specifically for this book
and not file prints.
Also, did you notice the time span of the photographs? Which was the
oldest and the youngest? Do you think HCB was using the same lens in as 1935
he was in 1965?
Well, that my two francs worth.
Happy Snaps,
Sal

PS- The first of Kodak's many versions of Tri-X was introduced in 1954. HCB
used/uses (?) an Ilford film, not Kodak.
