5) COMING BACK
a) knowing when its time to leave (before exhaustion, if you want to
return, otherwise go to exhaustion) / leave some appetite to continue
b) Coming home can be traumatic/picking up mail, messages, etc.
c) Processing film/ processing affects the way pictures will look/
recommended process for tri-x shot @ 200asa - microdol {I think JOe said it
was 3 to 1 ??- will recheck}. Test/ each roll may need different type of
proessing - each type shapes the emtional look - which one do u like?
Printing - portriga, seagull, gallerie, brilliant/don't want to print cold
story on warm paper / emulsion tests necessary.
Iran printed on Seagull {he crossed out seagull and wrote polycontrast- but
the handwriting cud be Joe's - maybe Seagull wasn't available at the time}
cold paper/ makes radical differences + new ilford multigrade/plastic OK for
5x7 / keep color negs in freezer afterwards/ kodachrome is only permanent
color film.
Cameras create different looks, will dictate the images; tendencies to
compose on one plane when using Nikons vs Leicas/ run them through all
speeds/
d) Billing- check hidden costs - batterise/ car mileage charges
Keep a diary for each project.

6) EDITING
a) numbering system for work (year, story number, roll number, frame)
b) buying good editing tools (Luxo #2 magnifier/ Schneider loupe)
c) looking at work/ when you are looking at work, select the picutres
that ou can walk backi into the image/ has an entry point
d) b/w workprints in 5x7 - group and number them
e) sort into groups/ portraits, landscapes, woman, etc. (need
schizophrenic quality just to know how to organize it)
f) color editing / put all similars together makes editing easier
        1) light box
        2) stack loader
        3) carousel projector

7) SELLING TO MAGAZINE
a) after the fact/ go and show aaround /best time to go and see people -
find out about people who see your work, people who like tyou/editors who
respond to your work, help you make sense of it/ you have something to give,
to share then
b) photoe magazines/portfolios - get someone in Paris to take work to one
of the magazines there -

8) BOOK/ It doesnt' have to be expensive to publish $6 - 8000 in the UK
a) material should be intelligent, sensitive and forceful, not portfolio
ideas
b) not very profitable but good for own health/ provides different
cultural perspeactive/ visibility

9) SHOWS
a) selling prints to museums, collectors, institutions
b) provides different perspective on work / textural perspective wacky
