The prices of S/H Leica equipment have very little to nothing to do with
their practical value as cameras. They are subject to the same fluctuations
and changes in trends and fads as are stock markets. I'm sure that you
could model this, using the same dynamics as have been used to model birds
in flight. Wait five years and SLs and M5s might be the most expensive s/h
Leica cameras to buy, while the current collecting frenzy of M3s in Asia may
have resulted in a glut and they won't be able to give them away.

Bottom line -- figure out what you need and get that. But the signal to
noise ratio is poor.
