Subject: RE: [Leica] Which One: 90 mm f/2 Summicron or 90 mm f/2.8 Elmarit ?

I chose the 90/2.8 for the same reason; cost. But I'm rethinking that
decision.

I understand the 90/2 APO ASPH M is second only to the 28/2 Summicron M in
terms of overall sharpness, and it's superb wide open. The 90/2 is even
ahead of the 180/2 and the 100/2.8 R lenses (though I doubt anyone would
notice).

I'd love to own the 2nd sharpest lens -- and sharpest tele -- in the Leica
line. I'd also take the 90/2 APO ASPH over 75/1.4. But that's just my
preference.

90 focal length is not one I frequently use, and thus I couldn't justify
the additional expense for the Summicron.<<
