The Northwest Leica Rep mentioned this to me just the other day. But I've
heard this from other sources, as well.

I remember when the 100/2.8 R was reported to be the sharpest lens in the
Leica line. Then it was surpassed by the 180/2 R. Then the 90/2 AAS M. The
28/2 now hold the honor of being the sharpest. The 135/3.4 M is up there,
but I'm not sure where it fits.

I never tested the lenses, aside from the fact that I've shot with them all
- -- except for the 28/2. I assume you'd need special optical testing
equipment to evaluate any difference in these gems.

Just curious, but how do you know this for sure? Have you tested these three
lenses against each other?

As for choice between Summicron-M APO ASPH or Elmarit-M 90mm, I would doubt
very much if one were able to notice any meaningful difference in actual
practice. That is, of course, if you can forgo the f/2.0 stop !
