I too am saddeded and sometimes maddened by the verbal spats that erupt
on the LUG from time to time. But I hope the people who are leaving the
list due to the latest carnage will reconsider. Or come back once
they've cooled off.

While the LUG can go a bit ballistic sometimes, it still offers much.
And as it bleeds off members into the smaller "LUG refugees" lists it
loses critical mass.

I, for one, find the occasional flame war a small price to pay for the
wealth of information, global cameraderie, witty banter, and good fun
the LUG offers. If there were enough rules to prevent all the nonsense,
we'd be sterile, politically correct and stifling, and no longer the
LUG.

Theodore Sturgeon once said that "90% of everything is crap." The LUG
usually is well above that estimate. So may I suggest that everybody
take a deep breath, try to be nice, think before you post, and use the
delete button when something pains you. And take your personal battles
off list.

But please don't take your bat and ball and go home. Remember, a world
where you never have to read anything you don't like is a world you
probably wouldn't want to live in.
