You should archive files at the maximum possible quality level. If you don't, you will find yourself going back to the original in a few years to re-scan instead of using your archive.
It may be a good idea to also save a small thumbnail on the CD, perhaps in JPEG format, so that you can quickly see what you have. If you throw in an html file that references your thumbnails, things get even easier to find.
