I agree that some Nikon lenses are terrific. And autofocus is invaluable at
times. Plus, that F100 is a super body. It's a great time to be a
photographer with all the fantastic equipment available.

But back when I used Nikon (and granted it's been 6 years at least), I was
frustrated with some things. Color balance, for one. If I changed lenses in
mid-roll under the same lighting conditions I could see a difference. I
really favor prime lenses, mainly because I like wider apertures, so I
changed lenses quite a bit. A couple of lenses -- 35/2 and 180/2.8 --
really seemed to be on the warm side. Though they were both fine performers
otherwise. I got tired of eating batteries, too. I ended up using the F3 HP
most of the time.

Since I was into manual focus, I tried Contax for a while (which matched
exactly with my Hasselblad lenses. Very even color) and finally Leica. I
bought an SL because it was a bargain. It turned out to be expensive in the
long run since I started buying R gear. The R7 is very much like my
previous favorite body, the F3HP. No place to go now...except backwards :-).
