Push the leather over the strap lugs, holding the leather onto the lugs, pull apart the O rings and mount them onto the lugs so they hold the leather onto the lug. Now loop the strap through the rings and affix normally. What you will end up with is a large softly rubbed area instead of a circle of finish worn off.
