This strikes me as silly.  This afternoon I walked down the Duke of 
Gloucester Street in Colonial Williamsburg (a tourist mecca for reasons 
that are lost to me, but my office is right there).  I saw dozens, if not 
hundreds, of cameras.  Aside from the P&S and digitals, nearly all of them 
were black or varying shades of plastic.  I don't think that "society" even 
registers the color of a camera body.
