The T adapter was the original one and offered no automation. The T2 offered
auto diaphragm. As sophistication in camera features advanced, T mounts
progressed to accommodate the new feature such as AE exposure as so forth.
As I recall the T4 was prevalent with Vivitar lenses and mated to lenses
with a special locking mount instead of a screw mount.
