Sonny,

I know that several folks have rewind crank add-ons for Leica M3 bodies.
Do you know where those things are available for purchase?

It is not worth sending your camera out, it is an easy job to replace
the rewind knob. Just order the part.
Tools needed are jeweler's screwdrivers, (cross-point and regular,) and
a tongue depressor.

If you examine the rewind knob, there are two screws, one straight down
the middle, and another tiny one on the side of the shaft under the
lever. Remove these, (save them) and stick the tongue depressor into
the film shaft inside the camera to hold it. Then simply unwind the
knob from the shaft. I believe it unwinds clock-wise, but I may be
wrong on this. Just don't force anything.

Check to make sure the shaft is not bent, and if it is OK, then just
wind the knob onto the shaft, and reset the original screws. Again,
make sure you are using good quality screwdrivers that fit, and don't
force anything!

Regards,

Sonny
