My wife has had a percisely identical experience with her PayPal account -- and she does have a "confirmed" (credit card) account. Hell, I just bought a Russian Tortoise for my wife as a birthday present with PayPal. I just bought my new Zeiss 10x40 binoculars with PayPal. The list goes on. A great system.
