Subject: [Leica] Focomat Ic and Ilford Head - guidance please.

Hi,
I've recently used a friend's standard focomat Ic and found it fantastic.

Since then I have found a well used, but in good condition Focomat Ic for
sale.

The only difference is that this one has an Ilford head on it, which uses
two halogen
globes instead of the standard enlarging globe.

With the Ilford head setup, it appears that this replaces the need for
filters in the filter
draw, as apparently the halogen setup, (coltrolled by a electronic box)
adjusts the
head to provide the appropriate level of filtering - using an internal
filter I think.
The control box then lets you choose your filter level 0 - 5 with the push
of a button, and
has a timer, probe attached to it as well.

I haven't seen this setup before and I am unfamiliar with it.

The lens included is the standard 50mm focotar, in good condition.

Can anyone comment on this setup, is it any good?
Also, any indications on what I should offer as a fair price for such a
setup.

Any guidance would be appreciated and I am keen to get into a darkroom
again and I am
hoping this setup may be a good start?

Cheers
James
