Hi Gary:

I wasn't discounting Velvia as much as you think.  It's just that I
don't find much use for it here in New England except for the fall, and
even then it's slower than I'd like. 

Having lived in Northern California I can readily understand why you
find it great for foggy coastal redwood grove pictures.

I use it along with Portra VC and some Provia 100F September-October.

I'm limited to some 1997 vintage Fujichrome 64T for my 11x14 pictures,

and would love to have some 11x14 Velvia for autumn foliage shots.
