I don't see that as an "obviously" at all.

What I see is that companies are realizing that making a profit on the
internet isn't as simple as registering a site and waiting for the bucks to
start rolling in.

Nor will the bucks start coming in when visitors to a site are restricted.
That's not the answer, either.

What's the answer?  Same as always.  Decide what your objective is and study
your target market.  No cookie cutter business plans are going to create
riches.
