The only Standard Poodle I have ever run into who had a bad disposition of
any kind was the one I reported - who had been abused. They are among the
most intelligent dogs, and are generally considered good dogs with kids.
I've had several, known many...

Actually the dreaded Rottweiller and the Doberman Pinscher  are two of
the best behaved dogs around. If they are mean, their owners trained
them to be. Standard Poodles have a quite nasty temperament from too
much inbreeding for that special look (so I was not surprised by what
B.D. reported) and many of the cute ornamental dogs are not far behind.

Hard to top a good old mutt of uncertain heritage.
