Greetings Mark,

Obviously I agree with you that Xtol is a wonderful invention as it is
currently all I use. And with the exception of fine tuning times and
agitation I pretty much find the processes in Anchell and Troop to be pretty
accurate.

What is known is that Xtol loves oxygen and will deteriate very rapidly if
exposed for any period of time. We strongly suspect that water quality
plays an important part in the activity of Xtol.

From my experience I believe that mixing in hot water will deteriate the
developer, I suspect that people use hot water to dissolve part A and the
solution is still hot(double activity for every ten degrees F over 68) when
they add part B reducing the activity of the developer.

In summary, I think that this is a modern age wonder that needs to be
treated with care: no oxygen, as little heat as possible, distilled water or
heavily filtered water including charcoal to mix, and some knowledge of just
how dilute it can be and not go into exhaustion.

Regards,

Don
