Guy,

Nathan was right when he advised

'For books (both photo books and books in general), take the Tube to
Tottenham
Court Road station and walk down Charing Cross Road. On your left is a large
Borders, a hundred metres or so down the street, on your right, is Foyles--a
bookshop the size of a department store. There are some other smaller
bookshops on this stretch, plus lots of bars and restaurants. You will leave
this neighbourhood much poorer and carrying a heavy load, trust me ;-)'

but is also a bookshop called Zwemmer (I think) on Charing Cross Road which
specialises in Art books with a heavy photography bias. If you are on
Charing Cross Road then you are 5 minutes from The Photographer's Gallery on
Gt Newport St, that has a bookshop in it and also a print room where you can
buy or just lust after prints by famous photographers. Have fun
