I have had the r9 for a while, it is noticeably lighter than the r8. i like
the feel of the r8/motor a lot more than the r9/motor combo, it feels very
bottom heavy. may be we now need a r9 motor drive with the same weight
characteristic

Subject: [Leica] Leica R9 is Here!

Hi all:

Just got back from picking up my new R9 at the dealer. The first comment I
can make about it is it is very light. Feels as light as one of the
plastic Canon EOS, but of course it is metal. With the motor drive
mounted, it is well balanced and quite a bit lighter than an EOS 1V with
booster or Nikon F5.

I will be using it for a few days this weekend and I will report my
impressions of it later.

BTW, I told the Canadian Leica Agent I would take whatever came in
first. It was an Anthracite one that arrived at my dealer this
afternoon. The Anthacite is about the tone of a hammertone paint, but with
the even texture of a chrome finish. I think it is a coating process used
for the R9 finishes.

Regards,

Robert
