Dave,

Thanks for posting these old pictures. At first I thought that your 
family must have been well off, but then I realized that the pictures 
were probably taken at the local hotel. On the back of one it says that 
"the plate is kept for subsequent orders". It would be interesting to 
see if the local museum has those old plates...

As for life in Frederikshavn 100 years ago, it was fairly tough. The 
main industry was (and is) fishing in the North Sea, the climate is 
rough, and it has traditionally been one of the poorer areas of the 
country. I grew up in Århus, further south in Jutland, but have always 
loved the northern Jutland area.
