Subject: RE: [Leica] Nikon LTM lens question

The Nikkor 5/1.5 is one of the rarest Nikkor rf lenses if my memory still
serves me. I bet it is so rare that only a couple of Nikkor collector
might know with a good chance of those being in their collection rather
than in their hands. My experience with the collectible lenses (made in
low quantity) has told me in general that optical performance was usually
so so.
In my experience with the Nikkor rf lenses, some of the best performers
are the 85/2, 105/2.5 and 135/3.5. I have tried the 250mm and the 350mm
with the N-F adapter on a reflex body with disappointment. I have been
pleased with the first three lenses that I mentioned though. It is claimed
that the 85/2 is a copy of the 85/2 Carl Zeiss Sonnar.

Subject: [Leica] Nikon LTM lens question

Fellow LUGgers,

I have a chance to buy a Nikkor -S.C 1:1.5 f=5cm lens in LTM mount. The
lens is spotless in all respects (one tiny bubble in the glass of the inner
element but that shouldn't be any problem) it is scaled in feet and focuses
from inf-3.5 ft coupled and down to 1.5 ft uncoupled from the RF on my IIIc
or M4P.

Does anyone know anything about this lens or where I can find more info
about it? Is it reputed to be any better a performer than the Summarit that
I use now? (I like the shorter scale focusing ability.) Prone to flare in
bright light or halos in available darkness wide open?

The owner has pretty much left it up to me to make an offer and it comes
with a mint 1:3.5 f=5cm collapsible Elmar as well. I want to be fair to him
(he just wants to see the lenses used) but of course want as good a bargain
as possible. :)

Any responses welcome.

Carpe Luminem,
Michael Eric Bérubé
